Hi, my name is Liz Somerville and I'm a children's picture book author. I am a proud West Virginian who loves not only the mountains but also the beach. I graduated from West Virginia University (Let's Go…Mountaineers!) more than 7 years ago with a Masters in Occupational Therapy (which I continue to practice). My husband and I are enjoying the small town WV life while raising our 2 energetic boys and fur baby. I have a serious obsession with books (as well as ice cream) and, since having children, I have gained a whole new appreciation when it comes to the importance of books.
How did I begin writing? Well, that's a story in itself but I think the fabulous Beverly Cleary said it best: “If you don't see the book you want on the shelves, write it.” In my case, it happened to be the book my oldest son wanted. I wanted to write a book for youngsters that not only taught a daily-required skill, as well as providing a moral value, but one that was FUN! So with a tremendous amount of prayer, time, and help from my amazing illustrator (Yoko Matsuoka), Rocco the Buffalo was born. With the help of fans (and future fans), Rocco will return for another adventure!
Hey everyone . . . meet Rocco the Buffalo. A preschool aged buffalo that is learning the necessary skills and important moral values he needs to flourish through his daily experiences. On his first escapade, Rocco discovers that his toothbrush is missing and he can't remember where he left it. Come join Rocco as he learns how to find lost things, treat others right, and teaches his brother Otto how to brush his teeth to keep them clean and white.

Rocco is back for another valuable, but difficult, lesson that is an important skill for all kids (and buffalos) to learn. This time around, Rocco gets an awesome “green, mean-machine” truck, but quickly realizes how hard it is to share his new toy. Come join Rocco as he faces this challenge and learns to share.
